Whoa. I realize I'm probably writing to dead space and air, but in case anyone is out there...
I don't even know how to start again! Um, let's see... six months worth...
Ben started first grade, he's doing very well. He started Cub Scouts in the fall, and in a temporary moment of insanity, I volunteered to lead his group. Which I have actually enjoyed... there are only five boys and they're a lot of fun. They are very close to earning their Tiger Cub badge. Very cute.
Evan is still, well, Evan. I can't believe he will be in Kindergarten in the fall. There is a hint of the "my-baby-is-leaving-and-I-can't-cope" emotion, but mostly it's because I'm afraid I'll get a call from the principal saying that Evan won't leave his clothes on. Seriously! The kid loves to be naked! Under that trouble, though, he really is a very sweet boy. Mostly.
Me? Nothing earth shattering here. My friend Heather conned me into starting Weight Watchers (again!) with her, and for some mysterious reason, it's working. Like, I'm following it and it's a habit and it's working. I started it all in November, and even started working out again. IN THE MORNINGS. As in, my alarm goes off at 4:30. AM. And I roll out of bed and drive to the Y 3-4 times a week. Yeah. Can you believe that? So, so far I'm 20 lbs down. Go me! :)
Hmm... that's about it, really. Everyone around me is getting pregnant, so I'm not drinking the water (or getting any), so it should't be an issue. Just enjoying the fact that I will have NO DAYCARE EXPENSE after August! New car? New place? We'll see... :)
(I will try to post again soon...)

remember me??
Holy cows (as Evan would say)... it's been a while. So much to update.
I think all three of you who read my blog know about what's gone down in the past few months. The boys and I moved out into our own place. It's so much more peaceful (as much peace as two little boys can offer). It's a small place and gets dirty in no time and it's taking up any extra money I had, but it's mine. :) It's been a while since I've been 'single'... and I forgot how much I loved it. Anywho...
We're having a pretty good summer. The boys and I have actually been a lot more active since the move. We've been swimming at the YMCA quite a bit, as well as taking in festivals, concerts and parades. I shot a wedding a few days ago, so that will keep me busy for the next few weeks, and I'm also finally learning how to knit. Granted, the first hour of my frustrating attempts yielded a big knot, but I'm finally getting the hang of it. The boys are already requesting matching hats/scarves/mittens with their color preferences. Ooh, and I'm READING again... believe it or not! Having a smaller place with no dictator over me means I can leave the place a little messy and enjoy a book! So... the book of choice this week is The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb. SO GOOD.
Okay, that's all. I promise to try to write more frequently from now on. :)

SICK!
We are SO in a funk right now. We have had someone sick in our house since Valentine's day. We've been back and forth with the flu and ear infections for almost six weeks now. Our house has been germ central, complete with fevers, snotty noses, and lots and lots of coughing. We've missed lots of school, work, tae kwon do and working out. Between co-pays and prescriptions, I'm up to about $500 in two months for treatments. So, now it's the middle of the night and Ben is up with a fever and earache. We're watching Monk. I hope this is over soon!!

taking a break
Does anyone else ever just want to NOT look at their PC for, like, a month? I just need a break from it! I realized tonight that I haven't checked my email in over a week.
I went to two doctors last week for my ear. Three prescriptions and two bottles of ear solution later, the pain is gone, but I still can't hear. I'm going back tomorrow... hopefully this will be over. Soon.
There are advantages to not being able to hear. If I lay down on my good ear, I can't hear Lauren and/or the boys! (blessings in disguise...)
Nothing really new here. Ben started tae kwon do on Monday, and loves it. I am still working out (one month later! can you believe it?), and I'm actually enjoying it. Who knew? I decided that once I get the workout thing down, then I'll work on the diet part. Right now, my whole attitude is, "I worked out, I deserve pie." Yeah, so net loss, zero. Atleast I'm active, right? I feel less guilty about watching movies if I know I had some activity earlier in the day. :)
More random babblings to come later; over and out.

this may be TMI...
So, I have two issues going on.
Hold up a minute... let me 1. warn the reader, and 2. apologize in advance for the grossness of this blog. Is grossness a word? Who cares!
If you know me at all, you know that I like to talk about gross and sometimes embarassing things. I'm the annoying friend who talks about periods, kid poop, etc.
So first, I'm not leaking where I should be. I have swimmer's ear, and there's some kind of a (wax) blockage in my ear. I can't hear, my head is throbbing, and there's a constant ringing in my left ear. The NP said I should be draining, so I got drops to move things along.
Second, I'm leaking where I shouldn't be. I ran yesterday, apparently for the first time since I gave birth five years ago. You can figure out the rest. In addition to my new-found workout routine, I will be adding kegels to the roster. It's fun being a mom. :)

The not-so-new-year's resolution
Are you sitting down?
I joined the YMCA. With the intention to (ssh!) exercise (or extercise, as Ben says).
This all started a few weeks ago. Lauren is taking a cooking class, and I thought if he could take a class, I should too. I need something for myself. So, I decided on a knitting class, then realized that's just one more thing that will keep me planted on my arse. I started looking at classes through IUPUI, then thought that I shouldn't have to go that far for aerobics or yoga or whatever. So, I ended up at the Y.
I have been a member since Friday, and have been three times now.
This is not a new year's resolution. NYR's are cheesy and cliche and, besides that, I suck at them. Okay, well it kind of is a NYR because I just started being 33. And wierd, old people things are happening to me. Like, my hair is not only turning gray, it's getting wavy and wirey and crap. I keep finding these hairs that look like I crimped them back in the 80's and they're just now showing up. And I'm freaking tired all the time. Hello, tangent.
So if any of my four readers belong to the Y... feel free to come along and watch me struggle through a workout. It should be good for a laugh.

perfunctory blog
Just because it's been a while...
Nothing is new. Work is busy, home is busy, life is crazy. No news is good news though, right? I promise to try harder!
Will write more soon...
